We set up camp in the basin at 5900 ft, pitching our Megamid tent far from the other groups camping near the moraine. Unfortunately, our stove self-destructed before dinner was ready. Alex ate the barely cooked noodles anyway, and suffered a great deal of stomach distress later that night. Luckily, we didn't need to melt snow for drinking water, since we had plentiful snowmelt runoff dripping from the rock ridge just to our west.
